Course Outline

This course is designed for those shooters who are comfortable around their handgun and have a baseline knowledge on how to safely use it. Students will learn how to move and shoot in a real world environment with a focus on becoming better with controlling their firearm for faster follow-up shots.

  • Self defense shootings
  • How to dryfire
  • Shooting stance
  • Draw from interior or exterior holster, considerations for both
  • Handgun grip
  • Handgun presentation
  • Sight alignment, both red dot and iron sights
  • Finding the dot (if running a red dot)
  • Recoil control
  • Handgun malfunctions and how to clear them
  • Handgun manipulations
  • Strong hand vs support hand
  • Handgun reloading
  • Handgun shooting drills

Equipment Required

  • Reliable handgun
  • 3 functional magazines
  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch
  • Outer waistband (OWB) or inner waistband (IWB) style holster
  • Belt must be able to support either system
  • Eye and ear protection
  • 700 rounds of ammunition
  • Appropriate range clothing (we will train in the rain or sun)
  • Handgun cleaning equipment
